Blogging Lately

I've been blogging for around a year now (I had another blog before this one, but thought I'd start again because I wasn't happy with how it looked or the content, and I couldn't figure out Wordpress properly for the life of me!) and although I thoroughly enjoy it, some aspects are beginning to drain me. I love having a place on the Internet in which I can share things from what I bought yesterday to my favourite life experiences. However,
I'm sure people have noticed that, for some lucky people, blogging as launched from a hobby to a full blown career in which people can earn a fair deal of money. These people are often those that have been blogging for a while, who know what they're doing and who are good at what they do. I feel that now that some people have seen what blogging can do for you in terms of money, career, etc, blogging has become that. I feel that people are beginning to forget some people genuinely do blog because they find it fun (like me).

Of course I want people to read and enjoy my blog, but I feel that there are a number of people that are taking it too far. I love reading advice posts, don't get me wrong, but when a few months ago my reader was filled with interesting travelling tips and tasty food recipes, the majority of the posts I see are advice. All I'm seeing is "you NEED to be active on social media" "you NEED to be consistent". Do I, though? What if I don't want people from my college and from my home town to be reading my blog, and I want to use this space as an escape? What if I don't have time to be consistent?

What I'm trying to say is, before I start going off on a tangent and ranting about everything irrelevant, is that I feel that no one blogs for fun anymore, and everyone is trying to go somewhere. It would be great if my blog did get popular, of course - the more the merrier! - but if it doesn't, that's okay. Hopefully some people are on the same page as me and I'm not coming across as a moany twat (lol), but it gets exhausting after a while when you're reading the same thing over and over and over! Thanks for reading and hopefully I'll be able to get blogging more regularly now that I've got all of my mocks over with!

  1. I really enjoyed reading this! I agree, it's like people are trying to say the only way a blog can be successful is if it has countless readers and you make a money from it. If you use it as a place to escape and enjoy what you do then you don't need to worry about readers and PR companies! Loving having a little read through your blog!
